Leg Day for Beginners (Don’t Skip It)
Never skip leg day — your legs are half your muscle mass, and training them drives strength and even overall growth.
A beginner leg day
- Squats — 3 × 8–12
- Romanian deadlifts — 3 × 10–12
- Leg press or lunges — 3 × 10–15
- Leg curls — 3 × 12–15
- Calf raises — 3 × 15–20
Why it matters
Legs hold most of your muscle, so training them builds serious strength and a balanced physique — and heavy leg work drives whole-body results. Nail your squat form and progress gradually.
Skipping legs = half a physique and a weaker everything. One or two focused leg days a week is plenty.
Quick answers
How often should I train legs?
1–2 leg sessions a week works well for beginners — they’re demanding, so give them recovery.
Do I need machines for leg day?
No — squats, lunges, RDLs and calf raises with free weights or even bodyweight build great legs.
